I’ve been a bit busy so haven’t said anything since our epic win the other week. But let’s face it, there’s nothing to say – just watch the video, it says it all!
Now normally I’d think about giving some kind of match summary but it’d just go something like this – goal, goal, goal, goal, goal, goal, goal, goal! It was just truly unbelievably. Well, not unbelievable – we’re the mighty reds after all but still it was pretty surreal.
I’d gone down into town for the game – it’s always a good atmosphere when there’s a big game on. Start of the season against rubbish Arsenal, this was going to be a gooden. So there I was in a pub, not in the Northern Quarter, but dangerously close. Sipping on a nice bitter – I’d got the perfect setup and was planning on staying all day/night if things went well and oh boy they did. Me and the lads were knocking them back a bit quick, but when the goals were coming in so fast every minute was a cause for celebration. Ashley Young scored two, Danny Wellbeck, Park Ji Sung and Nani one each and then Wayne Rooney the absolute beauty smashed three in. It was just how Sundays should be.
Took me right back to my Sunday league days. You rarely see that many goals conceded in top level football. But in Sunday league it’s a whole different ball game, goals are two a penny. I always remember one game, must have been back in the 90s the final score was 16-8. Can you imagine? I’m not even sure how there was time to fit that all in. Those were the days!
